HELLO, MY NAME IS JOSHUA!
I’m a filmmaker and photographer based in Macon, Ga. I’m from London, England and I moved to the United States a few years ago! In London, I worked for some of the biggest arts venues in the city, whilst pursuing degrees in Film, Business and Media.
I am a firm believer in the power of images to tell stories that need to be told, and to move us to care. For this reason, my work isn’t about showing something that isn’t there, but helping the viewer see what is.
I have little interest in photography that is polished until all trace of character disappears. The things we are taught to call imperfections are often the very things that make us recognisably ourselves—so why should a portrait erase them? I believe a portrait should not refine someone into an ideal, but recognise what is already there—the texture, expression and character that make them unmistakably themselves.
